Gaming Must Promote and Protect the Safety of All

Today, in an opinion article I published on the Official Microsoft Blog, I shared my views on gaming as one of our society’s great unifying forces. We are a 2.6 billion-person strong community of parents playing with our kids, adventurers exploring worlds together, teachers making math wondrous, grandmothers learning about their grandchildren through play, and soldiers connecting with their folks back home. If Skyrim’s map really is based on Ireland, I grew up in the dullest Hold

Bethesda’s behemoth RPG, Skyrim, is still relevant today. At this very moment, thousands of people are engaging colossal dragons in combat, while thousands more are likely plundering trinkets and thingamajigs from the depths of murky dungeons, ravaged by legions of the undead. Though the move is unsurprising in hindsight, many are rightly not used to seeing Microsoft and Sony team up for, well, anything....

The Division 2 Dark Hours raid finally cleared on consoles

The launch of The Division 2’s first eight-player raid, Dark Hours, has been a bit unusual. After promising matchmaking for all activities pre-launch, The Division 2 developer Massive decided to instead disable it for Dark Hours due to its complexity. The biggest news at the raid’s launch, however, was about how seemingly impossible to beat it was on consoles. While the world-first record was set on PC five hours after launch, console...
